Yes, I absolutely loved the ending of the video - such a tease... I would guess that it's exactly what they wanted. Having viewed it again, Romy, I see what you mean about the larger horns' profile - looks like very truncated expo to me now... I was ...
Delightful! And such perfect touch...Our little boy would occasionally manage something along those lines... he also loves to bob his head along, Stevie Wonder style, while pretending to to play along to the electric piano demo pieces (some Liszt, fu...

Hello,A couple of things to correct here - the horn flare is not conical even though the exterior surface gives that impression. Also I don't believe Jeffrey has any affiliation with weiss or other industry types at all - in fact, from what I've seen ...
Fantastic news, am so very pleased for you all! Well, with the one proviso that you limit Thomas' audio training to operating the power switch... ok, maybe changing a tube or two.Amy, I hope you are reading this...Best wishes,cv...

I can well imagine the heat in the hall was making them a bit drowsy - and perhaps their touring schedule - of which, as far as performances of the Eighth go:Sat, 7. September 2013Redefin, GermanyLandgestüt Redefin, Reithalle Gestüt RedefinWed, 11. S...

I bet Yamamura is using non-causal filtering... this is all running off a music server, so could process everything offline. This makes it possible to do forward-backward filtering - you run the filtered signal "backwards" through the original filter...

I had exactly the same thought...They're "elliptical JMLC" horns by autotech.pl. There are some threads on diyaudio, including:http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/group-buys/166312-waveguides-horns.htmland they have a website showing their myriad options ...

Generally these things aren't that formal... certainly not the Barbican, and I don't imagine the RCM would be any different. In fact, I can't remember the last time I had to dig out my top hat and monocle......
That may have been true in Walker's day but now we have the smallest speakers and the biggest women in Europe......
Very interesting! (and impressive construction there KO)I know this isn't quite the subject of the thread, but could you tell a bit more about the 212E amp, in particular, the regulator topology?Regarding 845 vs 211 - Romy, I suspect what you were he...
R,I'm not quite sure exactly what you are after, but if you remember my idea of filling a horn with a dense gas and having a gas tight, but loose mylar sheet to seal it in at the mouth... that will extend the LF, but you'll also get a greater impedan...
Indeed; art that leaves something for your own imagination to fill in the gaps is always more fulfiling.Dunno if you've seen the resevoir dogs movie, I recall when it came out there was a huge fuss about the scene when the policeman gets his ear cuto...
Did you find that instead of resurrecting your interest it finished it off and its now Bruckner all the way? Or did recent changes in the Macondo bass config reveal something new?Ok, no idea......
That's horribly disappointing for now but I think Jessie is right.Firstly, as you essentially said, I wonder if the horns are coupling into the room such that you actually have much bigger devices than you thought... you are actually sitting inside t...

Romy - forget pulling the throat protectors out... just blast them out with a cheesy 1812 and have the canon shots modulate the lights... Solves the issue of the ceremonial initiation too in secular fashion...Seriously though, I can't wait to hear (v...

Hello Paul,The first stage is a pentode, so the Miller cap is negligible. As for the other things you mentioned, there is a detailed exploration, which covers some of your points, by Dave Slagle at:http://www.intactaudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=102...
That makes more sense, though I must admit, Dave corrected me regarding how the first scheme might work (I had forgotten MM cartridges had such high inductances)....
I don't see how the cartridge inductance is doing anything as far as that schematic goes. There's another thing *very* wrong with it as well, but as you're not going to pursue it, we can leave it at that....
Hi RomyHow very strange you mention this... Dave and Jeffrey have been working with a somewhat similar concept. The design you have doesn't look right - it's missing a time constant; you need another cap there. Where did you find this schematic?...
Man would I love to visit the MIT fleamarket... only a few thou miles away alas.Well, I'm not advocating A2 in any way. The 13E1 will happily run at lower anode voltages but you won't get enough A1 power out, which is a shame cos you'll need a new po...
Consider a triode connected 13E1. 95W dissipation, will probably work beautifully with the existing OPT if you adjust the gap down and if you can rewire your arrays to present a somewhat higher impedance.Something like 400V-450V / 200mA-ish will ...
Hello chaps,Firstly, something I forgot before was that the high impedance coil will have more turns... so the DCR etc will be stepped down as seen by the voice coil. My guess is that overall it will still provide slightly less damping, due to imperf...
I still say you will get the same "effects" if you current source a low voltage supply. Or, easier, put an inductor in series with the windings after your filter cap.The way I look at it is that the voice coil is the primary of a transformer; the cor...
Mr H,I had a look at your drivers on your links - very interesting! Wish I could hear your work there, I can imagine it is rather special. That said, I must address a couple of your points:1) The safety issue:Dave is about the most "sound uber alles g...
Well, as I see it, one can consider the voice coil a primary and the field coil a secondary of a big transformer.I can see how a low voltage coil with low resistance via the PSU (which batteries certainly have) could therefore sound different from th...
Hi Romy,If you look at the bottom of this page:http://www.noteworthyaudio.co.uk/loudspeakers2.htmlit looks like he offers replicas of them...Good luck,cv...
Hi Romy,On my to-do list is a single ended version of the F5... essentially just the upper or lower half of the schematic, with a load resistor to opposite power rail (or perhaps a low DCR SE transformer) replacing the complementary portion.Alas it's...
Hi Paul,Completely agreed - I clumsily said plugs, when I meant spades - was simultaneously looking at some proper lemo plugs for signal and got confused.... Bananas, esp. for big hog woofers are - well - exactly that.I've also used the technique you...
Much appreciated Romy. Extremely valuable research this - the last thing I want to do is spend a fortune on high end jewelry BS. Guess it will be gold or nickel plated (the gold probably sits on a layer of nickel anyway). I'll also see what matching ...
Hi Romy,Prosaic question - what's the part number for these? Finally building some LF arrays and need a good few reasonably priced good sounding posts... sounds like these will fit the bill. Many thanks,cv...
